Winter Wonderland

We took Reis this past Saturday to the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa where they were having their annual Winter Wonderland. The lights and decorations were neat but I guess I didn't think about it being dark and not being able to see the animals...because you couldn't. Oh well, at least we tried and I think Reis had a good time...except for seeing Santa. Apparently, he is not a big fan.

Our new purchase

Well, Alan and I figured we'd bought a house so we needed a little boat to tootle around St. Pete with. So, we decided on this little diddy...HAHA. In my dreams, this is docked in the port at Alan's office and belongs to Microsoft co founder, Paul Allen. I couldn't resist taking a picture. It's not like everyday you see one of these little ole things. I told Alan that his chore this week was to work on an invite for us to come aboard. It will be kind of neat come Superbowl time because this is where all the other "fancy" yachts will be docked as well. Maybe Alan can work us onto Diddy's yacht for a Superbowl party...wishful thinking...lol

Here, there, everywhere

I am blogging from my comfy feather bed at the Doubletree in DC. I don't feel like I have stopped in the past few weeks but Alan is here on business so I came to see the gals I used to work with in Alexandria. Back to the Metro and crazy cabs drivers. Last week, we drove the entire state of Florida. We were planning on going to Tallahassee for Thanksgiving but got news that Alan's uncle had a stroke and wasn't going to make it. So, we headed to Fort Lauderdale on Monday. He passed away and I am glad we were able to get down there. This is the Suskey side of the family and I had never met Alan's grandpa(who is 86) and he had never met myself or Reis. I think it helped the grieving process by having Reis as a little distraction. We stayed there until Wednesday and then drove up to Tallahassee for Turkey Day. After stuffing our faces, we went to Alan's parents(in the Marianna area) for his cousin's wedding. This may sound bad but if you're from Florida and raised to love football, you don't plan your wedding on the biggest game day(FSU v UF) of the season...you just don't. Saturday we went to the wedding and reception but made it back for halftime and no surprise we were getting our butts kicked...the mojitos helped soothe the pain. We left Sunday at 3:30 and it took us 7.5 HOURS to get home. I was over it. I now know why they say the Thanksgiving holiday is the worst one for traffic accidents. We sat on I-10 for a hour. It was a parking lot. So, 6 wrecks later we were home by 11:30. I had one day to get everything ready and now we are here in DC. My little man is with Memaw so it's nice to have a little time and I know he is having fun with them. I went to Mccormick & Schmicks last night with Alan, his boss, and 2 other men. I really felt like the odd man out while listening to them discuss work and politics. If you asked me what my husband does, I would say he meets with big wigs to try and get money for projects...beyond that, you got me. The wine was good so I was content. The "men" wanted to have cigars so all FIVE of us piled in a cab and went to a cigar bar in DC. Nothing like halfway sitting on an older gentleman's lap who you have just met and then being the only woman in the bar(besides 2 lesbians) with a bunch of DC power men. I am starting to question my desperate attempts at getting out of the house:) We had fun though and now I can just kick back and relax although it is FREEZING here.
