Winter Wonderland 2

Some more pics from the zoo...

Some giraffes in the dark

Stinky penguins

The reindeer chowing down before a hectic work week
Reis was about to bust a move here to the Christmas music. He likes to get his groove on:)

Winter Wonderland

We took Reis this past Saturday to the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa where they were having their annual Winter Wonderland. The lights and decorations were neat but I guess I didn't think about it being dark and not being able to see the animals...because you couldn't. Oh well, at least we tried and I think Reis had a good time...except for seeing Santa. Apparently, he is not a big fan.

A light display with some crazy music

The carousel

The fam with the only Santa Reis liked
I hate this pic of myself but Reis' reaction is priceless. Is it bad that I thought it was pretty funny?

Our new purchase

Well, Alan and I figured we'd bought a house so we needed a little boat to tootle around St. Pete with. So, we decided on this little diddy...HAHA. In my dreams, this is docked in the port at Alan's office and belongs to Microsoft co founder, Paul Allen. I couldn't resist taking a picture. It's not like everyday you see one of these little ole things. I told Alan that his chore this week was to work on an invite for us to come aboard. It will be kind of neat come Superbowl time because this is where all the other "fancy" yachts will be docked as well. Maybe Alan can work us onto Diddy's yacht for a Superbowl party...wishful thinking...lol

Here, there, everywhere

I am blogging from my comfy feather bed at the Doubletree in DC. I don't feel like I have stopped in the past few weeks but Alan is here on business so I came to see the gals I used to work with in Alexandria. Back to the Metro and crazy cabs drivers. Last week, we drove the entire state of Florida. We were planning on going to Tallahassee for Thanksgiving but got news that Alan's uncle had a stroke and wasn't going to make it. So, we headed to Fort Lauderdale on Monday. He passed away and I am glad we were able to get down there. This is the Suskey side of the family and I had never met Alan's grandpa(who is 86) and he had never met myself or Reis. I think it helped the grieving process by having Reis as a little distraction. We stayed there until Wednesday and then drove up to Tallahassee for Turkey Day. After stuffing our faces, we went to Alan's parents(in the Marianna area) for his cousin's wedding. This may sound bad but if you're from Florida and raised to love football, you don't plan your wedding on the biggest game day(FSU v UF) of the season...you just don't. Saturday we went to the wedding and reception but made it back for halftime and no surprise we were getting our butts kicked...the mojitos helped soothe the pain. We left Sunday at 3:30 and it took us 7.5 HOURS to get home. I was over it. I now know why they say the Thanksgiving holiday is the worst one for traffic accidents. We sat on I-10 for a hour. It was a parking lot. So, 6 wrecks later we were home by 11:30. I had one day to get everything ready and now we are here in DC. My little man is with Memaw so it's nice to have a little time and I know he is having fun with them. I went to Mccormick & Schmicks last night with Alan, his boss, and 2 other men. I really felt like the odd man out while listening to them discuss work and politics. If you asked me what my husband does, I would say he meets with big wigs to try and get money for projects...beyond that, you got me. The wine was good so I was content. The "men" wanted to have cigars so all FIVE of us piled in a cab and went to a cigar bar in DC. Nothing like halfway sitting on an older gentleman's lap who you have just met and then being the only woman in the bar(besides 2 lesbians) with a bunch of DC power men. I am starting to question my desperate attempts at getting out of the house:) We had fun though and now I can just kick back and relax although it is FREEZING here.

Do I feel guilty...mmmm...no

My birthday is Saturday and always falls either on Thanksgiving or around that time...obviously. I always feel kinda guilty while everyone else is starting their Christmas shopping I am simply spending my birthday loot and shopping for myself. But hey, momma needs some shoes and clothes. So, I shall go forth and not feel guilty. Maybe I will throw in a little Christmas shopping while I am at it...who knows:)

Just because

Husband came home last night with flowers in his hand. I asked him why and he said just because and you had a bad day yesterday too. Thursday was a good day that morning. We went to the design center to pick out stuff for our house. I was hesitant about taking Reis but he did okay mostly because we had researched and knew what we wanted. I guess it was getting him out of his "schedule" or something but by the afternoon, he was being a royal pain in the you know what. He screamed, cried, and whined from about 4-6 that afternoon. Then proceeded to throw all his food on the floor. Which is another topic for discussion. The Dr. said he is perfectly healthy but in the lowest percentile for weight. Maybe because he is so tall. So now, I am paranoid that he is not eating enough. Anyway, back to my original story, he screamed from 4-6 and then I had had enough so I put him to bed around 6. He cried for about 45 minutes and then gave it up. There are just some days when I wish I could crawl into a hole. Alan had plans to go out with his buddies to Winghouse or Boobhouse might be a better description. So, he left and I grabbed some wine and headed for my bed and some reality tv. I gasped when I found out how much the flowers were but they sure did brighten my day.

Here are the cabinets and granite we chose...am very excited;)

Mumbo jumbo

I have a lot going through this brain of mine so let's just rattle them off. I am feeling better but still not completely normal. Actually, I feel pretty much like a hermit. I have not left the house except to go to a few events and simply have not wanted to. I went to the Dr.(a shady one I believe) and he said my 50mg dosage was nothing and should have no side effects whatsoever. Well, NORMALLY I don't wake up with a headache, chills, sweats, dizziness, and nausea. It has gotten better but not completely. It's only been about 2 weeks. I made an appt.(you have to for kids) at the gym tomorrow so maybe my hermit behind will feel better if I force myself to get out.

I ordered Twilight from Amazon and received it on Monday after rave reviews from a few ladies. I am almost halfway through and it's good. I have been looking for something good to read for awhile and a little love story has been a nice getaway.

I was reading Tara's blog about her brother and it got me thinking. I have not been the perfect person with a lot of things in my life and know we need to find a good church here and get ourselves and Reis involved. Heck, maybe I can meet some other moms. But, you cannot justify good things happening in your life as simply luck with no intervention from above. We recently had to write the rest of our earnest money deposit which was $3200 and were going to have to spend another $1000 next week at the design center. With me not working, things get tough at times and husband stresses. It makes me feel helpless because I am not contributing monetarily. Well, when he went to write the check, Kim(our salesperson) said they were offering a new incentive where you don't have to put any money down when going to do your upgrades. So, that is $1000 we don't have to spend. Thank you Lord:)

Tigger, 2 Minnie's, and a Princess

Anna(Minnie), Lexi(Princess), and Reis

Sammy(the 2nd Minnie) and Reis

Reis ready for some loot

My little Tigger

I wasn't able to get them all to stand still but here are a couple pics from last night before we headed off into the neighborhood. I really shouldn't laugh at this but it was funny. I should have gotten a pic of the "men" pushing a stroller with their beer in it. Some of the wives got a little peeved but my husband is pretty good about behaving most of the time so if he works hard all week and wants to have a brew while we walk around the neighborhood I have no problem with it. I couldn't get mad because the sight of it was actually pretty hilarious. Hope everyone had a great time:)

This gets me everytime

What a hottie

I'm here, there and everywhere

Or at least that's how I feel. I was in Havana all last week and then husband came back for the FSU game. It was fun hanging out and seeing everyone but it never feels like a vacation. Trying to split your time 3 ways now is difficult and I feel more tired after I leave then when I am home. I am feeling really out of it these days and hope it goes away soon. I got on anti-depressants 5 months after I had Reis because I had a lot of anxiety and living away from my family and feeling caged just got to me. SO, I decided I feel okay now and quit them cold turkey and it has been rough. I would suggest that anyone who is contemplating them or on them to not quit cold turkey. I have had the worst headaches, shivers, waking up drenched and no patience whatsoever. I feel like a mega-bitch and not myself. It has been a week and I have taken a little here and there but I hope this goes away soon...it SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!

Babies for Bill

Congressman Young had an open house at his campaign headquarters yesterday and Alan was helping out so Reis and I went over and hung out for a while. He is up for reelection in November and has been a member of Congress for over 30 years. He and his wife, Beverly, have been like a another set of parents for us in a way. We met them in DC when Alan volunteered on the Hill for his office. I think it was divine intervention that they came into our lives. Some already know the story, but we met them while I was pregnant with Reis. I had been seeing an Army doctor on base in Virginia and had no idea that she was a general practitioner and not an OB. I never saw an OB my entire pregnancy. With a month left, my law firm threw me a shower and I expressed concerns to Bev about my swelling and no one being able to give me Reis' approximate size or weight with only a month to go. I did not want to deliver a 10lb. baby. I had gone in for an ultrasound where they plugged in this rickety old machine and couldn't see anything as far as weight, measurement, or fluid. I told Beverly at the shower about this and she demanded that I be seen at Bethesda(the Naval hospital where all members of Congress and the president go so they have to be up to par). She made a call and got me in the next day. I was seen by a nurse in high risk pregnancy and my fluid was extremely low and my placenta was calcified. I was induced within 4 hours in which I freaked out because I had no bag packed and still thought I had 4 weeks to let the idea of pushing a baby out my you know what sink in. The nurse said that if I had gone full term Reis might not be here. He could have had a cord accident and been stillborn. So, no amount of thank yous will ever be enough to show our gratitude. I had Congressman Young(who walked off the House floor while voting) sleeping on cot while I was in labor and Bev and Alan on each side. They do SO much for soldiers and their families to make sure they are taken care of and treated accordingly. You would think that they would get or SHOULD get the best health care the United States has to offer but it's sad, because some of the time they get the worst.

Every letter makes a sound

Singing in my best voice, "Every letter makes a sound, "q" says "qua." This is what I hear all day everyday followed by the alphabet playing over and over...and over. This is actually a neat toy. Instead of pulling all my pictures and magnets off the fridge, Reis has his own and the entire alphabet to stick on the fridge or throw on the floor...most of which are on the floor right now. I recommend it for momma's, it gives baby something to play with while you are busy in the kitchen.

Gold digger and not in the good way

Reis is digging for gold all the time. It's funny but kind of gross and embarrassing at the same time. I hear this is just a phase and I sure hope so. I don't want to be the mother who's kid has his finger up his nose constantly...ewww.

We signed our contract for the house a week ago and looks like everything is a go. I guess one good thing about the housing market going to crap is that we got a really good deal, are paying no closing costs, got $9,000 towards upgrades, and get the $7,500 tax credit for first time home buyers. Can't beat that. I shall disclose my plan for the tax credit at another time. Let's just say I have plans and husband isn't arguing against it:)

Back in the swing of things

The in-laws brought Reis back on Sunday and he is WALKING everywhere. It is so weird to be standing in the kitchen and see him walk around the corner. I feel like he has turned into a little man in the 2 weeks I haven't seen him. He has changed so much and is learning new things all the time and trying to repeat everything we say. Note to mommy and daddy...watch what you say. The time Alan and I got to spend together did us good. I think everyone needs that from time to time. Although it is so tiring and frustrating at times to be a parent, it melts my heart to see him laugh, play and discover new things. I wouldn't change it for the world.

Thank you Mrs. Sofa

I really thought I was an idiot for not knowing how to change the template...all better now:)

I need help

I want to change my boring background but everytime I try, the sides of the layout change but the green header is still there. I know it can't be that hard and I am not completely stupid. Help!!

White House Black Market

Just bought this dress for the wedding this weekend. I could take one of everything in the store. They have the cutest stuff but I am also partial to black...love it. For fellow shoe addicts, I found out about this website awhile ago and thought I'd share. It's called endless.com and they sell tons of shoes from all different designers. The great thing is that they offer free overnight shipping and returns. So, as long as you purchase before 5pm(may be a little later) your shoes will be on your doorstep the next morning. How great is that? You can get shoes in any price range too...it's been my secret obsession so check it out.

We're back but only for a few days

One of the pools at sunset

Steve, Alan, Dean and Will...all buddies who were in Iraq together

The lobby of the hotel and the formal swimming pool

Husband and I

We got back on Sunday from the wedding in Orlando and had a blast. It was so nice to only have to go 45 minutes away from home versus 15 hours that everyone else had to drive. They only had a total of 20 people there including the wedding party so it was great to be able to hang out and get to know them. I was a little worried that it was going to be uncomfortable not knowing a single soul except Alan but it was good. Of course, you can't get that many chicks together and not have drama. From my point of view, I think that if the bride's parents paid for EVERYONE'S room to the cost of $195 a night you could at least make an effort to hang out and try to get to know her. She hadn't met any of us either but was willing to allow us to come while saying no to some of her family members. So, don't be bitchy and ignore everyone except the one person you know. I can't stand cattiness and thinking you are above someone else. And, she was the most down to earth, sweetest person! Needless to say, there are some people I would love to see again and others I will be fine to do without. Just a little recap and venting.
Still don't have my son or Brutus. They should be bringing him back this weekend. I miss my baby sooooo much. Who knew I would miss stinky, pooey diapers but I do:)

At the OMNI

Spending WAY too much money. Alan got mad that I raided the mini-bar last night for a 4 dollar bottle of Evian and M&Ms...will probably run up to Publix...ain't no pancakes and an omelet worth 50 bucks. But, we are having fun and the place is gorgeous...will post some pics when I get back.

Tomorrow is the big day

All I can do is pray. My parents go for mediation tomorrow and everything should be settled and finalized. I don't think that I have fully comprehended the divorce and I don't know that I ever will. My dad said that God will give us answers when it is his time but it's really hard. I know it is true and pray for the both of them and for our family. Hopefully, we can rebuild and be okay...at some point.
My sister checked herself into a facility and I am so thankful and proud of her. Again, all I can do is pray that she will get the help she needs and realize the wonderful, giving person she is at heart. All in all, these past 6 months or so have been really hard, but I need to be more focused on my own family and realize my husband and Reis need me as well. I pray the coming months bring us all happiness and not so much sadness and grief. I apologize for the not so happy post, but I have a lot going on in the little brain of mine and sometimes it feels good to get it all out.

All by myself

It feels weird to be in the house all by my lonesome. Alan's brother, Erik, took Reis and Brutus back with him to my mother in law's for the next week. We have a wedding this weekend and one next weekend also...both out of town. I got teary-eyed yesterday when Reis left, but I know he's having a blast. I'm kinda wandering around trying to figure out what to do with no one to tend to or a dog to walk. It's nice though, Alan and I will get to hang out and spend time together. I'm excited about the resort this weekend. I will probably float around on the lazy river for the next 4 days and not worry about a thing. Ahh, it will be nice. I know Alan is excited to see his Army dudes that he hasn't seen in years. I told him just not to forget his wife is there. Well, I have cleaned the entire house and washed clothes so this momma is headed down to the pool to relax.

Live life to the fullest

Guess since the new season of Oprah started, all of us stay at home moms will be blogging about her topics. I just thought it was a mighty nice coincidence and I will tell my husband this also or he will read this for himself. Today, Dr. Oz was talking about living life to the fullest and not putting things off so he took his family to Discovery Cove. Alan and I were just talking about this earlier this morning. I have been begging him to take me but it's pricey. For those who have no idea what I am talking about, Discovery Cove is in Orlando and you can swim with dolphins, scuba with fish(and sharks that are in a separate tank but you can see them), and other different water activities. So husband, let's live life to the fullest and swim with dolphins for my birthday:)

Mrs. Sofa got me on a rant

Let me preface this by saying that I do have a wonderful husband that provides for us, takes care of all our needs, and doesn't bitch(too much) when I say I "need" a pedicure. But, why is it that once you get married, they forget how to do ANYTHING for themselves. Funny how all knowledge of how to wash clothes, load a dish in the dishwasher, make a sandwich or clean goes completely out the window. Do we become house slaves when we decide to get married and stay home with our children? He does help but after I tell him I need this or that done. Sometimes I feel like a maid and nanny...I'm done ranting. Honey I love you because I know you will read this:)

Auntie Sarah, I need a haircut

He has already had his hair cut twice and I don't want anyone to touch it but Sarah. Hopefully, Memaw can get him in when she keeps him in 2 weeks. Just a little heads up Auntie Sarah:)

I'm still here

I think going away made me more tired than being at home. It's something about not being in his environment, I guess, but Reis was up this weekend at 6:30 which is not normal. So, I am trying to recover. Alan is in DC on business and I had to take him to the airport this morning at 5 so I am pooped. I asked him today if he ever thought he would be in DC again on business and as a "civilian." It's kind of ironic, but I knew he would do great in the "real world." Gainesville and the game were fun...hot, but fun. I knew Seminole fans could party and of course, Gators can too. Two things I saw this weekend that were pretty genius ideas. One, 2 chicks riding down the road on coolers that were motorized. I never knew they had those. I thought they were rigged somehow but they weren't. Now, one had on wedges and a dress which was pretty idiotic. Number two was a guy at a bar that we went to cool down before the game had a cast on his arm and a cup holder attached. Oh, to be in college again. Actually, I felt kind of old and like I had a sign on my forehead that said...I have a baby. Nothing like being grinded on when you are just there to hang out, have a drink, and try and salvage your face that is running down your neck. Gatorville was fun, but I still love my Noles. They kicked butt this weekend. Let's just hope it continues.

Thursday, September 4, 2008

Off to G-ville tomorrow for a little R&R

I think the fall and football season are my favorite times of the year. Maybe it's the South, we breed football fans. Mary Beth and I are headed to the Gator game while the 2 grandmas watch Reis. Let's just hope they put him down before they get into the wine:) They've been known to get a little wacky. I think I have Blogger's block or something because I sit down and seem like I have nothing to talk about. Maybe this weekend I will come back with many stories to tell. Until then, I shall continue packing:)

Labor Day

I had my in-laws visit for Labor Day and this was actually Reis' first trip to the beach. Of course, we were there for maybe 30 minutes and the sky fell out and it started pouring...like everyday in Florida. We had a good time, it was a little cramped but not too bad. Here are a couple pics. Memaw should take up a second career as a photographer. She always gets the best pictures.

Monday came and Monday can GO

I woke up this morning not feeling so perky. Not sure if it was the weather change or what but my throat was scratchy, and I just didn't feel quite "right." I decided I would lay on the couch while Reis ate and threw his cheerios on the floor. I closed my eyes for half a second and smack, my son is standing there and whacks me on the face. I am up now. I have baby proofed my cabinets in the house and also in my bathroom. Baby seems to enjoy Oil of Olay lotion and my rejuvenating facial peel. These gadgets are so good, I think I cuss half the time trying to get into my own cabinets. Well, one of the knobs came off of the cabinet and me the genius that I am decided to try and smack it back on with my plastic paddle brush. So, now no knob and no brush. Needless to say, I am not looking too pretty today. Then, he decides to snatch the plug in out of the wall...disclaimer-I don't know what I was thinking still having it in except that I enjoy the smell of fresh linen flowing through my kitchen. This bottle of smelly goodness breaks and glass is all over the floor. Good thing for my handy-vac, it has seen more cheerios, goldfish, and now glass in the last couple of months. I feel like all I have done today is try and fix things to no avail. Finally, I was leaving today with Reis on my hip and knocked half a bottle of red wine on the floor. I have glass and Petite Syrah EVERYWHERE!!! Once again, handy-vac to the rescue. Only now when I am sucking up cheerios, goldfish, and whatever else comes my way, I get a whiff of red wine...not so good. So, I have thrown in the towel and am going to get in bed and read my US Weekly. Nighty night:)

Please explain

Our family has been through hell lately and I literally mean it. Not myself, Alan, and Reis but my mom, dad, and sister. My parent's divorce should be finalized soon and if that wasn't enough, they have to deal with my sister's antics. I have no idea who all reads this and she probably doesn't even know I have a blog, but if she reads this maybe it will do her some GOOD and at this point I don't care! I don't understand how someone can continually make bad decisions, have the parents bail them out constantly, and then say that no one has ever done anything for them? I get so FRUSTRATED! Basically, my dad is the only one that is willing to still deal with her and he has no home right now, the stress of work, and a divorce. It makes me so mad. What do you do to make someone realize they need to get their act together even though they are in a vulnerable state? Do you still chew their ass and wonder if they will be there the next day? Or, worry that the last thing you said will in fact be the last thing and then you have to live with that. How do you deal with that type of situation? Write them off? Keep bailing them out? I have no idea but something has got to give...it's getting ridiculous. I am airing out dirty laundry but right now, I simply don't give a crap.

I also don't know what I did to be so blessed and peaceful while my family is going through such drama. How come my life has been a gift from God over the past couple of years? Not meaning my whole life hasn't but one would think that these first couple of years would be trying and it actually hasn't been so bad. Everything has fallen into place for us. Yes, we have had some bad spots over the years but things have always fallen into place....a good job for Alan, a house to buy, our finances, my parents being generous, able and more than willing to help us out whenever we need something. I am so thankful for both of them even if that means they live separate lives. I cannot remember a time when I said, "mom and dad, I need this" and them not doing their best to make that happen. Even now that I am 26, it is still the same way. I look at that and hope that I can do the same for Reis one day just because we can and think he deserves it.

Looking forward

The next couple of weeks are going to be busy but I am looking forward to it. Sometimes I wonder how I am not crazier than I am being stuck in the house or maybe it is just the everyday, mundane routine I am sick of? Anyway, glad things will be busy soon. My in-laws and Pa are coming for Labor Day weekend. I always enjoy when they come not only just to see them and hang out, but also someone else to HELP. Sometimes momma just needs a break and it definitely does me good.

The weekend following Labor Day husband is going to a bachelor party so I am headed to Gainesville to the Florida-Miami game. I am going to be forced to wear orange and blue(gasp) but then again, I don't want to get beat up or my car keyed. So, I figured I would just join them. I am not a traitor just a mom willing to do about anything to get out of the house. Another note...told husband if he spends one dollar on a skank that weekend...don't come home:)

Then, the end of Sept. we get an all inclusive vacay to the Omni Resort near Orlando for a wedding husband is in. Got the mother in law on stand by to babysit that weekend so I am overjoyed at the thought of husband and I by ourselves for 3 days at the beach. Oh, what a joyous occasion that will be:)

Batteries, water and MRE's

Husband was cute yesterday watching the latest news on Tropical Storm Fay and saying we should be fully prepared. So, he went to Publix and stocked up. I was joking with him because he's been in Germany and Iraq for the last 6 years prior to us getting married and not too many hurricanes blow through over there. I jokingly told him to check to see if Publix sold Army issued MRE's since we are likely to be without power for a couple days. His response, "smart ass!" I sure hope it doesn't get bad, if I'm stuck in this house for too many days I'll be a monster.

We had a good time again this weekend at the Hard Rock. Didn't win any money actually lost it all. But the drinks were still tasty:)

Another thought

I haven't been watching Big Brother from the beginning but have for the past 3 or so seasons. Every season I think to myself there's no way this season could top the last with drama, but it always does. I love it! And, Michelle and her mouth are so annoying...go back to the Bronx or wherever with that accent...it's annoying. I've said my peace and shall go now.

Husband knows how to work it

So, as I said yesterday husband decided to go to the gun show(every time I say this, I think of Anchor Man) and made a purchase. I absolutely HATE guns and am terrified of them. I have no idea where he plans on keeping this thing, but it won't be anywhere near me and my baby. Anyway, to suffice my bitching I was given the green light to go shopping...not complaining now. So I took my happy butt to International Plaza and got some blinged out Ed Hardy sunglasses. They are big, obnoxious, and sparkly so I am happy:)

Peace and quiet

Alan took Reis and went to a gun show in Tampa...maybe it's the redneck in him or the army man he still is, but I don't care momma gets some ME time. It is NICE!! Anne and Jed are coming this weekend and I pray it doesn't rain. This will be our second attempt at Busch Gardens so hopefully we can avoid the rain. It's open at night now so I thought it would be neat to go. No rain, no rain I say. We also got pre-approved for our loan so I am soooo relieved. Everything pretty much depends on that obviously so that's good. Looks like we will sign our contract in September and they will start building it. It will work out perfectly if everything goes according to plan as far as our lease being up and the townhouse built. Sigh of relief on that. Well, I am off to enjoy my quiet time although it will include my vacuum cleaner. The joys of being a mom:)

Soooo...I did something a little crazy today

I got a tattoo on my wrist. I got Reis' name tattooed on my inner wrist. Maybe it was momma gone wild or something, but I just decided I wanted to do it. It didn't hurt too bad but after giving birth, nothing hurts in comparison to that.

I need sippy cup help

Reis has been transitioning to a sippy cup, but I can't find any that don't leak. I have been using the Nuk brand with a soft spout which he likes, but anytime he throws it down the top gets loose and milk spills out. He doesn't like the hard top ones yet and of course we have Nascar cups that daddy insisted he have. Any suggestions moms? I don't want my carpet and car to smell of nasty milk.

Money can't buy happiness but it can sure get a man out of the dog house

As mentioned in my earlier post, husband met his friend, Billy, at the cigar bar which is not even a mile from our house. Reis was already down and I was in my pj's so I figured why not let him blow off a little steam and have man time. Well, he got home a lot later then he was supposed to and caused a ruckus when he got in, but I won't go into details. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper this morning. I got Reis up and decided to head to the gym. I looked in husband's wallet in hopes that he might have a little cash I could steal. To my surprise, there was a $100 in there. When he finally pulled his lazy butt out of bed, I asked why in the heck he had all that money and he said he went by the atm on the way home so the Suskey peace talk in the morning would go a lot smoother. Smart man indeed...I was no longer angry and took my white, mommy butt and went and tanned on husband's dollar. Sometimes, a little sun and some unexpected cash makes things all better.

A little premature but hopefully it will work out

I have always been one of those people that doesn't want to say anything until I know things are set in stone but I think everything is going to work out perfectly. Alan is at the cigar bar around the corner so I am in the bed watching horrible reality TV and thought I might blog a bit. We have found some really nice townhouses in pre-construction and I think we are going to sign a contract on one. I am really excited because it seems like for the length of our marriage we have been tied down to the military and their way of life and then moving down here and not knowing what to expect or where the nice places to live are located. So, we came across this through some friends who have already signed contracts and decided to check it out. Come to find out, we could really do this and our mortgage would be the same as what we are paying now...hello? Why not? The great thing about pre-construction is that we can pick and choose what we want the house to look like...ie....granite counter tops...nice. I guess I can't say all things military are bad because the housing company has a program called Hometown Heroes that will give $4700 towards upgrades on top of the $4000 the company already offers for new home buyers. They also pay all closing costs if using their lender which is awesome. I guess the lull in the housing market has it's advantages for those looking to purchase their first home. So, in October we plan on signing the contract if all goes well and have a plan for when our lease comes up here. I think I have officially hit "grown up" stage when looking at refrigerators and cabinets makes me excited. Hopefully all will go well and we can finally have our home.

All Worth It

This is when staying home and sometimes feeling completely crazy is worth it. To see your little guy pull up and start walking across the living room with his toy is payment enough. I am so thankful to be here and see the milestones...it makes my day!

1 and $9.38

Reis' official birthday was yesterday so da-da brought home a cupcake and candle for him to have. He torn into the thing like no other and was green from the nose down. It really is hard to believe that I have a 1 year old...a little scary:)

We also had a blast at the Hard Rock on Friday night. I was savvy and turned my dolla into $9.38. Needless to say, after I got up to that much, I thought I should be smart and cash it out. I am such a nerd!
